Our eyes play an important role in our day-to-day life. It is the most valuable gift we have. But still, some people lag this ability to visualize the surrounding things. Therefore, this paper presents an idea of developing a system i.e, NavGuide, that can assist the visually impaired people in their everyday activities. The device comprises an Arduino with an ultrasonic sensor, flame sensor, fall detection, and buzzer. Under emergency condition alert SMS is sent to the caretakers. Through this module, they could be easily tracked.

ABSTRACT Narrating a story in an effective way is always been a challenge. In case of narrating illness it cannot be trouble-free. Various human conditions provide various meanings of illness. Illness offers ample number of perceptions and connotations. Arthur Kleinman, a prominent American Psychiatrist, in his theoretical work, The Illness Narratives, views illness in a wider perspective. He states, by invoking the term illness, I mean to conjure up the innate human experience of symptoms and sufferings. Illness refers to how the sick person and the members of the family or wider social network perceive, live with, and respond to symptoms and disability. Thus illness becomes part and parcel of human life and suffering. It moulds the thoughts of the society; manipulates and gears human life, invades peoples thoughts and inhabits their memories. It occurs often in conversations of the sick and in the people surrounded them. A persons health and mental conditions change according to the despotism of illness and mould lives, thoughts and creative processes. In a nutshell illness more often mirror the society. Illness in its wider sense represents suffering, misery, pain, death, the question of existence and so on. On the other hand it also lays a hand on inter/intra personal human relationships, empathy, ethics and care. When illness holds its influence on human life, unsurprisingly it reflects in literature, which in turn reflects human embeddedness with illness. A patient is not only an object of medical query, but also a narrator of suffering. Some narrators can effectively represent the sufferings of the ill, but it is not effortless. This paper tries to understand how illness is represented in Jodi Picoults novel My Sisters Keeper. It is also intended to go deep into the techniques used to narrate illness.

Traditionally Exporting has been seen as a way to increase turnover of individual enterprises when Internationalization of SMEs begins with. Exporting, as the traditional way to internationalize, is still very important, but during the last decade, internationalization has become a much more differentiated business activity of crucial importance for achieving competitiveness. Foreign partnerships, foreign investments, subsidiaries and cross border clustering represent viable ways to facilitate exchanges of knowledge and technology and to strengthen international business strategies of SMEs. Such international activities cover both outward (e.g. sales/export) and inward (e.g. import or access to knowledge) activities along the value chain. Exporting firms are also often involved in a range of inward and related activities that interact with each other. The role of management in technological advancements, quality related with product manufacturing, process capability, application of operational knowledge of the staff, lived in abroad and having people with foreign experience will increase the pace of internationalization. This paper underlines that internationalization consists of a broad range of activities that contribute to the development of enterprises' competitiveness. Competitiveness is the role which can be developed by the management. However, this holistic approach has not been adopted sufficiently by policy measures aiming to encourage internationalization and at increasing firms' competitiveness. Statistical approaches such as, Factor analysis, multiple regression, Man whitney U test and correlation are used for finding the results through SPSS software.

It is really fascinating to blend up the portrait of women in Indian literature because when put together, the picture collectively makes up for a captivating and thought provocative reading. Women in India are still caught between the cultural milieu with traditions deeply seated into her veins and the approaching modern life. Combating with the burden of domestic and social life, mothering, child bearing, struggling with the conventions, women have first to survive this harsh world. The question of equality and equal opportunity arises afterwards. In such compromising times, it is essential to identify the new areas of trouble and to check the disproportion which arises just after her marriage. The transition from girlhood to womanhood marks a great change in her life and hence the beginning of a completely new phase. Among the present-day Indian women writers in English, Shashi Deshpande stands out as a dominant name. In this paper Ive taken up stories depicting the paltry condition of a woman, most of the times as a wife and also at times as a mother or even a daughter. The short stories included are beautifully carved out in an exquisite style. Deshpandes writing style is simple and reasonable, devoid of any fabrication and deception. The paper is a prudent attempt to analyze the image of woman in a self-denial mode. The use of the first-person narrator gives an outline of credibility to the actions and situations and brings the protagonist closer to the reader. The stories essentially are woman-centered, women in their different roles of daughter, mother and wife, who find themselves trapped and enclosed in the institution of marriage in this patriarchal society and who unfailingly suffer from alienation and a sense of guilt and loss. Though Shashi Deshpande does not define herself as a feminist writer, and she has no intention of becoming the spokeswoman of the predicament of the middle-class Indian woman still her novels and short-stories portray social reality the way it is. Of the selected several short stories, 1 has a mythical background, with characters taken from the great Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. The others portray common daily life situations an Indian woman has to deal with in the world that strictly predefines her roles. All the female characters share a deep feeling of confinement and frustration. However, none of them will put into danger their familys peace and stability. The female characters are alienated in their own private worlds and inner rooms, away from their husbands who find them insignificant and take them for granted.

Background: Surgical site infections are a major complication of surgery and a potential indicator of causative organisms and the percentage of multi-resistant bacteria. Materials and methods: This is a six-month prospective study in the general surgery department of Mohammed VI University Hospital. All subjects who underwent general surgery between 01 March 2018 and 31 August 2018 were included and monitored 30 days after the intervention. Risk factors such as age, ASA sore, type of intervention and duration of operation were collected. All infected patients benefited from samples for bacteriological study. Results: During the 6-month period, 736 patients were included in the study. their ages ranged from 15 to 94 years, with an average of 48.5 years. A total of 39 SSIs was confirmed (incidence rate of 5.29%). The distribution according to the site of infection showed 27 superficial infections, 10 deep infections, and 2 space infections. Urgency, age, Altemeyer contamination class, type of intervention and duration of surgery were the main risk factors. The SSIs stratified rate on the NNIS index ranged from 2.7%(NNIS=0) to 12% (NNIS= 3) The causative organisms in order of frequency were: Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Conclusion: The high frequency of SSIs makes it necessary to reinforce the hygiene measures during the operative procedure, and to reinforce regular monitoring according to standardized procedures in the surgical departments.

This paper analyzes the design and construction of a satellite receiver station whose purpose is to receive meteorological signals transmitted from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Satellites. This is done through an arrangement consisting of an SDR (Software Defined Radio), an adaptive antenna on the VHF band and web and FTP servers for analysing the obtained images remotely. The SDR maintains connection with the satellite in the specified time period. The paper also further analyzes the decoding of the thus obtained image. The enhanced image is further studied. These images can be used for clear meteorological monitoring with the only intention of effectively analysing and preventing climatic events in particular regions.
