The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver explores the complex relationship between silence, identity, and political fear through the life of its protagonist, Harrison Shepherd. Set across Mexico and the United States during the early twentieth century, the novel presents a historical narrative shaped by political upheaval, cultural displacement, and ideological conflict. Shepherd's life intersects with prominent historical figures such as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and Leon Trotsky, situating the narrative within a broader historical framework. This paper examines how Kingsolver uses the concept of "lacuna" a gap or absence to symbolize the silences within personal identity, historical memory, and political discourse. The study argues that the protagonist's fragmented identity reflects the cultural and ideological tensions of the period. Furthermore, the novel reveals how political fear, particularly during the era of McCarthyism, suppresses truth and creates a culture of suspicion. Through its exploration of silence and displacement, The Lacuna highlights the difficulties of constructing identity in a world shaped by political paranoia and historical uncertainty.

Abstract Joint hypermobility refers to the ability of joints to move beyond the normal expected range and is influenced by soft tissue elasticity, muscle tone, bone structure, and joint health. Although joint hypermobility is common, it is often under-recognized in clinical settings. Individuals with generalized joint hypermobility may experience joint instability, musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, functional limitations, and psychological distress, which can affect overall quality of life. The present study aimed to assess the impact of joint hypermobility on quality of life and psychological well-being among paramedical staff and students at Uka Tarsadia University. An observational cross-sectional study was conducted among nursing and physiotherapy students and staff. A total sample of 355 participants was included using convenient sampling. Joint hypermobility was assessed using the Beighton Scale, quality of life using the Short Form-36 (SF-36), and psychological well-being using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). The results demonstrated that participants with joint hypermobility had lower quality-of-life scores and higher anxiety scores compared to non-hypermobile participants. Nursing students showed a greater prevalence of hypermobility and poorer outcomes than physiotherapy students. Female participants also demonstrated lower quality-of-life scores and higher anxiety levels than males. The study concludes that joint hypermobility has a negative impact on both physical and psychological well-being in paramedical students and staff, highlighting the need for early screening, targeted interventions, and supportive strategies within educational institutions.

The Finite Element Method (FEM) has emerged as the cornerstone of modern structural analysis in industrial engineering. This paper presents a comprehensive review of structural analysis techniques employing FEM, with particular emphasis on industrial applications including aerospace, automotive, civil infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors. The review systematically examines the evolution of FEM formulations -- from classical linear static analysis to advanced nonlinear, dynamic, and coupled multi-physics simulations. Key aspects including mesh generation strategies, element types, solver technologies, convergence criteria, and validation methodologies are critically analyzed. Furthermore, the integration of FEM with modern computational paradigms such as topology optimization, isogeometric analysis, extended finite element method (XFEM), and machine learning-assisted simulation is discussed. The paper also surveys widely adopted commercial and open-source FEM software platforms, along with their respective industrial use cases. Challenges such as computational cost, model uncertainty, and limitations in simulating complex boundary conditions are highlighted. The review concludes with emerging trends and future directions of FEM in industrial structural analysis, including real-time simulation, digital twin frameworks, and high-performance computing. This work serves as a consolidated reference for researchers and engineers seeking a holistic understanding of FEM-based structural analysis in industrial contexts.

The growing adoption of photovoltaic (PV) systems requires intelligent monitoring methods to ensure efficient operation and early detection of performance degradation. Digital Twin technology offers a virtual model that replicates the behavior of a physical energy system using real-time operational data. This study presents a digital twin framework for photovoltaic systems that integrates machine learning techniques to estimate power generation and identify abnormal operating conditions. Environmental variables such as solar irradiance, module temperature, voltage, and current are utilized to train predictive models including Random Forest and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. The virtual model continuously evaluates system behavior by comparing predicted output with measured PV performance. Significant deviations between the predicted and actual values indicate potential faults or efficiency losses. The results indicate that combining machine learning algorithms with digital twin modeling improves prediction capability and supports proactive maintenance of solar energy systems. The proposed framework can assist in enhancing reliability and operational efficiency of PV installations and may contribute to smarter renewable energy management in future power systems.

In the socio-economically complex district of Keonjhar, Odisha, approximately 44% of youth report significant mental health distress, exacerbated by the stressors of a mining-heavy landscape. This research evaluates Project Jibana Ullasa, an intervention across 19 PM-SHRI schools that integrates Social, Emotional, and Ethical (SEE) Learning with Physical Literacy (PL). Using a mixed-methods approach, the study analyzed data from 38 nodal educators. Quantitative results showed a 19.6% increase in trauma-informed pedagogical awareness and a 13.16 percentage point gain in Physical Literacy conceptual clarity. Qualitatively, the shift from "Received Knowledge" to "Embodied Understanding" was evidenced by the implementation of SEEL Corners and Gratitude Boxes. While interpersonal empathy improved, a 30.4% decline in systemic responsibility scores identifies a critical "Systems Thinking" gap. The study provides a scalable blueprint for operationalizing India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in marginalized contexts.

The Grant of Darjeeling became a major juncture in the history of Darjeeling. The arrival of missionaries and the development of Darjeeling as an important centre for education in the Eastern Himalayas is a stimulating topic to read. Darjeeling stood as a gateway to Nepal, Bhutan, and Sikkim, and it is the closest hill station to the capital, Calcutta. Consequently, it got early exposure to Education. The Charter Act of 1813 and Wood's Despatch of1854 played an important role in introducing Western education in the hills. In the light of Western education, schools such as Loreto Convent, St. Paul's School, the Scottish Universities Mission Institution, and many other premium institutions in Darjeeling were established. The paper elucidates the evolution and contributions of various missionary and philanthropic groups that devoted their energies and wealth to building Darjeeling as an educational hub. It also delved into the post independence progression and the reaction of the hills and Terai people of the Darjeeling district. In short, the study focuses on the formalization of Education during and after the colonial period in Darjeeling Himalaya.
