Why do regimes confronted by protest waves, legitimacy crises, and elite fractures increasingly govern through "security" even when such moves intensify instability? Drawing on Critical Security Studies and ontological security theory, this article argues that contemporary South Asian regime instability is partly produced by ontological security strategies, discursive and institutional practices aimed at preserving a coherent state-self amid anxiety. Through comparative vignettes of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka; and interpretive analysis of securitizing narratives of law-and-order, "foreign hand," digital blackouts, emergency governance, this paper shows how identity-preserving state practices can generate tactical calm while deepening strategic volatility. The contribution is a mid-range conceptual framework linking regime anxiety to security performances, and a typology of ontological security strategies that helps explain recurring cycles of repression, backlash, and legitimacy erosion in South Asia.

Women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are a powerful tool for financial inclusion and social empowerment in developing countries. However, not all groups grow at the same pace. Some thrive while others struggle. This study examines how group cohesion and group efficiency interact to influence the development of SHGs in the microfinance sector. It also looks at the role of loan size as a moderator and group efficiency as a mediator in this relationship. Data from 200 SHGs were analyzed using structural equation modeling in SmartPLS 4.0. The results show that cohesion and efficiency together strengthen group development. Collaborative decision-making, mutual support, and participatory culture improve communication, confidence, and help members achieve literacy and income goals. Larger loan sizes further enhance efficiency and strengthen these benefits. The study offers practical insights for policymakers and practitioners, highlighting that targeted interventions to build cohesion and efficiency can make SHGs more sustainable.

Background: Life skills are the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Every one of us learns a number of skills while going through the different stages of life. Skills are the learned capacity which helps us to do a task effectively and these can be acquired through practice and patience. Objectives : To assess the life skills among B.Sc. nursing students, find out association between life skills and socio-demographic variables and determine the correlation amongst the areas of life skills in terms of self-awareness, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, decision making, problem solving, coping with stress. Methodology- : Descriptive correlational study was conducted among 207 B.Sc. nursing students of 4 selected nursing colleges of Guwahati, Assam by using proportionate random sampling technique. A standardised "Life Skills Assessment Scale" was used for the study. Ethical permission was obtained from the Institutional Ethics Committee of Regional College of Nursing, Guwahati-32. Results: Out of 207 subjects 3(1.4) had very high level of life skills, 28(13.5%) had high, 141(68.1%) had average life skills, 28(13.5%) had low and 7(3.4%) had very low level of life skills. The overall mean life skill score was 203.5 with SD=18.61. Majority of the students had average level of life skills in all the areas of self-awareness, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, decision making, problem solving, coping with stress. The study included numbers of socio-demographic variables like age, gender, place of residence, no. of siblings, type of family, education and occupation of parents and monthly income of the family to examine significant association with life skills. None of the variables were found significantly associated. The study found that effective communication was significantly correlated with interpersonal relationship (r = 0.329, p=0.000); decision making (r = 0.041, p=0.000); problem solving (r = 0.307, p=0.000); coping with stress (r = 0.406, p=0.0491), Interpersonal relationship was significantly correlated with decision making (r = 0.342, p = 0.000); problem solving (r = 0.389, p = 0.000); and coping with stress (r = 0.257, p = 0.000), Decision making was significantly correlated with problem solving (r = 0.381, p = 0.000); and coping with stress (r = 0.304, p = 0.000). Conclusion: The study concluded that majority of the nursing students had average life skills and so they need life skills education to enhance their skills.

Abstract: This article explores the striking convergence and divergence between Advaita Vedanta's philosophy of non-duality (Advaita) and the 19th-century American Transcendentalist celebration of individualism epitomized by Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. While Advaita Vedanta posits the ultimate reality of Brahman-a singular, formless consciousness wherein the individual self (atman) is identical to Brahman- Transcendentalism elevates the individual soul to a sovereign source of truth, intuiting a universal Oversoul that mirrors the Vedantic vision. This study examines key texts- Upanishadic literature, Sankara's commentaries, Emerson's "Nature" and "Self-Reliance", and Thoreau's _Walden_-to trace how both traditions reject dualistic worldviews yet employ distinct epistemologies: Vedanta grounds authority in Sruti (scripture) and guru-guided realization, whereas Transcendentalism privileges personal intuition and direct communion with nature. The paper argues that the shared emphasis on non-dual consciousness fosters a cross-culture dialogue, revealing complementary pathways to self-realisation: one rooted in renunciation and metaphysical inquiry, the other in engaged individualism and social reform. By juxtaposing metaphysical claims, ethical implications, and historical exchanges (e.g., Emerson's reading of Upanishadic translations), the study illuminates how non-dual philosophy can enrich modern discourses on identify, ecology, and spiritual pluralism. The findings underscore the transformative potential of integrating Eastern non-dualism with Western individualism, offering a holistic vision of human unity without erasing culture particularities.

This study investigates women's purchasing behaviors regarding beauty products in Mangalore City, utilizing data from 100 female participants of varying ages, occupations, and income levels. The research examines factors influencing their purchasing decisions, motivations, and product selection criteria. Findings indicate that women prioritize product composition, with over half examining ingredients before purchase, showing preference for natural, organic, or chemical-free options. Product efficacy is highly valued, with 82% of participants considering effectiveness very or extremely important. Price is not a predominant factor, as few cited it as their primary concern. Women generally allocate a modest budget, spending less than INR2,000 monthly on skincare and hair care rather than makeup. Their decisions are influenced by trusted sources, with recommendations from friends and family being most impactful, followed by online reviews and social media. Women ensure products align with their personal needs, skin type, or values. Most use beauty products for self-expression or personal satisfaction, rather than external pressures. While many view grooming as integral to their professional image, few feel compelled by societal expectations to use beauty products. Half of the respondents seek eco-friendly or environmentally safe options. The study reveals that women in Mangalore are discerning consumers, selecting products based on safety, efficacy, personal suitability, and ethical considerations, rather than advertisements or low prices. For brands, this emphasizes the importance of building trust through transparency, quality, and commitment to people and planet to engage this market.

This paper presents a comprehensive deep learning framework for automated identification and classification of South Indian medicinal plants, with particular emphasis on species exhibiting closely similar leaf morphologies. The increasing loss of traditional botanical expertise combined with growing demands for reliable, scalable identification technologies in ethnomedicine, biodiversity conservation, and phytopharmaceuticals motivates this research. We developed a multi-source image dataset encompassing six vital medicinal plant species--Alfalfa, Aloevera, Fenugreek, Kadamba, Neem, and Papaya--systematically organized by organ type (leaves, flowers, fruits). The proposed framework implements both single-part and multi-part classification workflows using ResNet-34 architecture, optimized through transfer learning and validated using contemporary best practices. Results demonstrate marked improvement in classification performance when organ-level images are combined using ensemble voting techniques, achieving weighted average accuracy of 84% and F1-score of 0.88. The inclusion of reproductive organs (flowers, fruits) alongside vegetative parts effectively resolves ambiguities in morphologically similar species, establishing a robust, scalable, and interpretable workflow suitable for real-world ethnobotanical and healthcare applications.
