 Abstract

Background: Night Eating Syndrome (NES) is a chrono-behavioral eating disorder characterized by a delayed circadian pattern of food intake, evening hyperphagia, and nocturnal ingestions. Despite its growing clinical relevance, NES remains under-diagnosed among urban young adults, particularly within the Indian context where lifestyle factors such as irregular sleep schedules, academic stress and 24-hour food availability are increasingly prevalent. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 young adults (100 males, 100 females). Data collection included anthropometric measurements, the Night Eating Diagnostic Questionnaire (NEDQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and 3-day 24-hour dietary recall. Participants were classified into four NEDQ categories. Statistical analyses included Chi-square tests, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni post-hoc correction, and Pearson's correlation. Results: NES was highly prevalent, with 67% of participants exhibiting night eating behaviors and 24% meeting Full NES criteria. Increasing NEDQ severity was significantly associated with higher BMI (p=0.023), poorer sleep quality (p<0.001), and elevated perceived stress (p<0.001). Sleep quality and perceived stress were strongly correlated (r=0.520, p<0.001). Total energy and macronutrient intake did not differ significantly across categories; however, iron intake was significantly higher (p<0.001) and calcium intake significantly lower (p=0.007) in NES-positive groups. Conclusion: NES is prevalent among urban Indian young adults and is significantly linked to poor sleep, elevated stress, and qualitative dietary disturbances, reinforcing its conceptualization as a circadian disorder within a stress-sleep-eating triad. Integrated multidisciplinary interventions addressing dietary timing, sleep hygiene, and stress management are warranted.

 Abstract

Background: Frozen shoulder, medically known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition that appears more frequently in people living with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). In Ayurveda, a closely matching condition has long been described as Avabahuka. Both conditions share a common thread they cause shoulder stiffness, pain, and significant loss of movement. Objective: This paper explores how Avabahuka and frozen shoulder overlap in diabetic patients, focusing on their shared disease mechanisms and what Ayurveda offers in terms of prevention. Methods: We reviewed classical Ayurvedic texts including Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Madhava Nidana, alongside modern medical literature sourced from PubMed, the AYU journal, and ScienceDirect. We then compared both systems in terms of disease process, symptoms, and treatment approaches. Results: The review identified clear parallels both conditions involve vitiation of and Kapha doshas, damage to Snayu (tendons and ligaments), and depletion of Dhatus (body Vata tissues). On the modern side, collagen glycosylation, chronic low-grade inflammation, and microvascular injury mirror what Ayurveda describes as Kapha Avarana of Vata and Sandhigata disorders. Conclusion: Identifying early Avabahuka-like symptoms in diabetic patients opens a window for timely, preventive action. Ayurvedic therapies such as Abhyanga (oil massage), Swedana (sudation), Basti (medicated enemas), and targeted dietary changes can meaningfully support standard diabetic care.

 Abstract

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuropsychiatric condition that commonly affects adults, especially females, leading to a wide range of problems linked to executive dysfunctions and everyday tasks performance. The purpose of this study was to evaluate executive functions, explore patterns of executive dysfunctions, and investigate their association with daily activities, educational achievements, occupation, and psychosocial health. This cross-sectional quantitative study involved 120 women aged between 18 and 45 years who were clinically diagnosed with ADHD. In addition to clinical evaluation of executive dysfunctions, measures of attention, working memory, cognitive flexibility, inhibitory control, and functional outcomes were used for data collection. Results indicated pronounced deficits in all categories of executive functions, with the most pronounced executive dysfunction being characterized by inhibitory control and working memory. The majority of the participants demonstrated executive dysfunctions at the moderate or severe levels, with this being significantly associated with poor daily functioning, lack of achievement in education and work, and psychosocial problems. Correlations showed strong negative associations between executive dysfunction and all functional categories examined. These findings suggest the considerable impact of ADHD on the lives of affected women with respect to their neuropsychological functioning and overall well-being.

 Abstract

Natural disasters such as landslides and structural collapses often leave victims trapped beneath debris, where rapid detection is critical for survival. TerraPulse-X presents an intelligent human presence detection system that combines sensor fusion and predictive analytics to support search and rescue operations. The proposed framework integrates ultrasonic, vibration, sound, and DHT11 temperature humidity sensors with an ESP32 microcontroller for continuous environmental monitoring. Sensor readings are collected, processed, and transmitted to a Flask-based monitoring platform through serial communication for real-time visualization and analysis. Historical data obtained from the sensing modules are utilized to train a Linear Regression model capable of forecasting future distance, temperature, and humidity values. The predictive capability assists rescue personnel in identifying environmental trends and potential indicators of human presence beneath rubble. An IoT-enabled notification mechanism using the Blynk platform provides immediate alerts whenever abnormal conditions or detection events occur. Experimental evaluation demonstrates reliable sensing performance, efficient data transmission, accurate prediction outcomes, and enhanced situational awareness, making the system suitable for disaster response applications and emergency rescue scenarios worldwide today.

 Abstract

Background-Udaka is a specific entity used in Ayurveda for denoting fluid and water component of body refers to the Jala, Sweda and Lasika. Ayurveda describes Udakavaha Srotas as the channels responsible for the regulation, transportation, and maintenance of body fluids i,e. Udaka. Srotas are minute channels present within the body. According to classical texts, Talu (palate) and Kloma are considered the mulasthana (root) of Udakavaha Srotas. Injury to these structures leads to characteristic manifestations such as Pipasa (excessive thirst, dryness of the oral cavity, and disturbances in fluid homeostasis) and Sadyomarana (Sudden death). Talu is enumerated among the vital anatomical structures where trauma may result in severe consequences, including Sadyomarana (instant or immediate death), as described under Viddha lakshana . Aim- This study aims to analyse the anatomical and physiological significance of Talu as Udakavaha Srotomula and explore the rationale behind its classification as a site whose injury may lead to fatal outcomes. Objectives- To analyze the significance of Talu as mulsthana of Udakavaha Srotas and the rationale behind Sadyomarana as a consequence of injury. Methodology- Classical Ayurvedic literature, including Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and their commentaries, was reviewed and correlated with contemporary anatomical concepts. The present review aims to critically analyze the anatomical and physiological significance of Talu as Udakavaha Srotomula and explore the rationale behind its classification as a site whose injury may lead to fatal outcomes. Understanding Talu from both Ayurvedic and modern perspectives may provide valuable insights into the clinical relevance of Udakavaha Srotas.

 Abstract

India's unregulated private coaching industry has grown into a multibillion-dollar sector, raising serious concerns about student welfare, developmental appropriateness, and educational equity. In response, the Ministry of Education issued comprehensive guidelines that include, most notably, an age restriction prohibiting coaching enrolment of students below 16 years of age. This mixed-methods study investigates the perspectives of parents, teachers, and students toward these guidelines, with particular emphasis on the age restriction provision, using stratified random sampling at Aiswaneswara Bidyapitha School in Astaranga Block, Puri District, Odisha. Data were collected from 57 students (Classes 8-10), 30 teachers, and 57 parents through structured questionnaires supplemented by informal interviews. Key findings reveal that 89% of parents were aware of the guidelines, 58% supported the age restriction, and 77% reported their children experienced coaching-related stress. All 30 teachers demonstrated complete policy awareness, yet 63% enrolled their own children in coaching--indicating a systemic confidence gap in school-only preparation. Students showed long-term dependency on coaching (72% attending for over two years), with personalized attention cited as the primary draw. The study highlights the need for strengthened school teaching, school-based mental health support, ethical marketing regulation, and tiered enforcement strategies to translate policy intent into equitable educational practice.
