Proper planning and scheduling is very important part of construction projects for reducing and controlling delays of the project. Substantial amounts of time, money and resources are wasted each year in a construction industry due to improper management of construction activities. With globalization the construction projects have become vast and very complex. Planning of such projects requires huge amount of paperwork and time, which can be reduced with the help of project planning software. Providing good planning, proper organization, sufficient flow of resources to a project cannot automatically achieve the desired result. A warning mechanism must be present, which can alert the organization about its possible success and failures throughout the project. The main objectives of this study are to plan, schedule, and track an industrial project with the help of primavera P6 software and study the results generated. Also to recommend measures to the organization for enhancing their project planning skills for similar projects in future.

Maternal health is a key indicator of women’s health and status. It is widely recognized fact that the status of women in India with regard to men is particularly low. Women’s poor health in India are bound up with social, cultural and economic factors which exert a negative impact on the health status of women and children. It has been estimated that nearly 45,000 mothers die due to causes related to childbirth every year in India that can be preventable. Majority of the deaths take place in rural areas where there is no adequate health facility. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the maternal health care of rural women.

The concept of Quality of Work Life (QWL) has emerged as an important determinant of a model employment. Several researches have been conducted on QWL, but a few studies are in the academic sector. However, considering the contributions of QWL in the recent times, a more comprehensive review is attempted here on academic sector. In this connection , the author has reviewed the literature on QWL components which would help researchers to take a closer look at the application of QWL components. For this purpose, the author considered available secondary data relates to academic sector. The present paper Quality of Work Life Components: A Literature Review in Academic sector, is presented in four parts encompassing the concept of QWL, Review of available Literature on QWL , various Components of QWL and adoption of QWL components to academic environment. Based on the review a conclusion is provided. It is observed that 18 components are most predominant components that address the QWL of employees in the Academic Sector.

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a continuously self-configuring, infrastructure-less network of mobile devices connected wirelessly. Each device in MANETs is free to move independently in any direction, so many attacks are possible in MANETs. In MANETs there are different type of active attacks like black hole, wormhole, grey hole and sinkhole attacks. Black hole attack is a kind of attacks where a malicious node advertise itself a shortest path during routing discovery and redirect the data towards malicious node. Malicious node dropped data or its desired destination instead of original destination. In this paper, focuses of various prevention and detection methods to detect and prevent the black hole attack

The current construction practices require a great effort to balance the factors such as money, time and quality. Value Engineering is a proven management technique that can make valuable contributions to value enhancement and cost reduction in construction industry. Many a time, Value Engineering (VE) is confused with cost cutting exercises in construction industry. The essential difference between conventional cost cutting and VE is that it involves reducing the cost by improving the functionality through lesser consumption of energy in terms of manpower, materials, and machines. However, it was found that the benefit of VE is much greater if multidisciplinary teams of engineers were involved which would also influence the design team that is normally the case in construction. Value Engineering is one of the most effective techniques to identify and eliminate unnecessary costs in building design, construction, operations, maintenance. The methodology is composed of three main stages, Pre-Study of the Value Engineering, value engineering job plan, and post study of the value engineering. In this critical literature review, how the principles of Value Engineering are applied in building construction projects is explained, in order to reach out better quality with lower cost.

Inertial navigation uses gyroscopes and accelerometers to maintain an estimate of the position, velocity, attitude and attitude rates of the aircraft. Gyroscopes are used in various applications to sense either the angle turned through by a vehicle or structure (displacement gyroscopes) or its angular rate of turn about some defined axis (rate gyroscopes). Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) devices are one of the most exciting developments in inertial sensors Micro inertial sensors, such as MEMS gyroscopes, can provide small, inexpensive, low power devices; however, the accuracy of these devices is insufficient for many space applications. The aim of this project is to develop a mathematical model of the vibratory MEMS gyroscope and to derive the governing equations of motion of these systems using the Newton-Euler approach. The individual outputs of many nominally identical micro sensors can be combined to generate an arithmetic average of the sensor measurements and then processed this average in an appropriate Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The estimates are generally much more accurate than the measurements taken directly from the sensors.

Abstract: Large number of hydropower projects is under construction and it is essential to document the construction practice of hydropower projects. Construction professional always focus on time, cost, safety and quality. The objective of the research is to assess construction management practice of small hydropower projects in Nepal. Out of thirty eight small hydropower projects twenty seven projects were considered for the study based on Cochran sample size for construction practice. Questionnaire survey, KII and case study of two projects was conducted for data collection. Critical path method was popular for planning the project. Weekly meetings were preferred by client, consultant and contractor for monitoring of the project progress. The overall findings of 62.86 percent of parties involved in the project used to coordinate their current schedule with master schedule. 80 percent of client, consultant and contractor had the association of cost schedule with estimated time schedule. More than 74 percent of client, consultant and contractor did not use any software for planning, monitoring and controlling of cost of project. Furthermore, the safety factors were moderately used in construction project. Also, 40 percent of meetings were conducted weekly for the safety issues and there were less number of trainings for the safety. Improvement in construction practice is required for ensuring the safety and timely completion of project within estimated budget.
