The impact of COVID-19 on Indian real estate has been extraordinary, as evidence by the fact that the sector has lost over Rs. 1 lakh crore since the epidemic broke out. The pandemic, according to the research, caused a major financial crunch for real estate developers. The loan crunch reduced residential sales in India's top seven cities from four lakh units in 2019-20 to 2.8 lakh units in 2020-21. Sales are expected to be restricted until the COVID-19 situation is effectively managed, according to the agency.

Over the years, mergers and acquisitions have been the most popular methods of inorganic company growth. It is widely used in the restructuring of business organisations. Companies engage in mergers and acquisitions for strategic business reasons that are primarily economic in nature. This research study aims to assess the impact of acquirer companies' pre and post- acquisitions financial performance. This will be accomplished by comparing the acquirer company's pre-merger and post-merger performance in selected M&A deals in India over two time periods: 2007-2008 (selected due to the 2008 global financial crisis) and 2012-2013 (many deals rose after 2010 and then again in 2012-2013) using select financial ratios and a paired test at 5% significance.
