Many medical mysteries in the past took on supernatural overtones because of superstitions, folk lore, and scientific ignorance. Though much had been learned medically about the human organism, there were many diseases and disorders thought of as diabolic. One such disease which congenital, dermatological disease represented by thick and scaly skin known as Ichthyosis. It is one of the rarest diseases. Aberrant keratinization is the main cause of this disease. Extremely dry and scaly skins are the marked symptoms of it, and for such kind of symptoms ABCA12 gene is responsible. Main point is this that the ichthyosis does not show any life shortening effect. Purpose of studying this disease is to aware people about it. What kind of treatment are given, the how people suffering from it face such kind of diseases and which are types of ichthyosis are mentioned in it.

Poverty is generally perceived as lack of income and assets for meeting the minimum needs for a decent living and the same leads to many other forms of deprivations related to human well being, essential for a meaningful life. Poverty deprives one from adequate food and nutrition, proper shelter, education, treatment during illness and similar essential material needs. Apart from material deprivation poverty leads to failure in participating in various social, cultural and economic activities and the poor have very little strength to mitigate the risk to any vulnerability, which affects them materially as well as morally. People living in poverty have lack of capacity to work for their own welfare and very often they have to compromise their dignity. Even after more than 62 years of planning, various poverty alleviation programmes, official estimates shows that around 26.1 percent of total population still lives below the poverty line in India. According to data, 29.8 per cent or 360 million Indians were poor in 2011. While 51% of the country's total workforce is self-employed, only 15.5% are regular wagers or salaried employees and 33.5% casual labourers, according to a survey by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).

In present time, as the human population is rising to the extremities, there is also an increase in the amount of supplies which is causing the industries to produce the respective products in a large scale. This is causing a huge amount of waste being generated from these industries into our water bodies causing water pollution [1]. Hence, there is a need to remove this waste from our water bodies. Among the various pollutants emitted out from the industries; acids are one of such pollutants being generated by the industries. These are water soluble and colorless in nature and hence get unnoticed but causes a negative impact on our environment. The method of removal of acids is by the Biosorption [2] of Custard apple (Anonna squamosa) leaves as they are easily available and cost effective. The concentration of the acids is being determined using simple neutralization titrations. The Custard apple leaves used here as a biosorbent are found to be effective in the removal of acids at room temperature. The experimental data is verified by the Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherms.

There has been a huge migration of rural population in urban parts of India in last three decades. Factors like growing economic prosperity in cities, poor employability in agricultural sector and aspiration for better standards of living are major drivers for consistent increase in urban population. The administration of urban affairs is managed by multiple agencies working under the aegis of central, state and local governments. The poor condition of urban infrastructure and lack of civic facilities for majority of population in cities warrants for review of existing urban policies and working of agencies handling urban administration. By virtue of the 74th constitutional amendment, the provisions were made for empowerment of municipal bodies and for greater public participation in the process of governance. This article discusses the salient features of good urban governance and issues and challenges in implementation of governance practices in India. The author has also made an attempt to evaluate the role played by the urban local bodies in making the urban governance more effective and people oriented. The state governments have not been very forthcoming in vesting of powers with the municipal bodies and these institutions are performing very basic civic services. The remedies and alternatives for fulfilling the objectives envisaged by 74th constitutional amendments have also been proposed by the author in this article.
