 Abstract

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are gaining widespread acceptance due to energy conservation concerns. The CFL is a significant harmonic source since its current total harmonic distortion can exceed 100%. Although each CFL consumes only a small amount of power, mass deployed CFLs could become a significant harmonic source. In this paper a frequency domain harmonic model for the CFL using PSPICE is developed. Further passive filter is designed to reduce the harmonics in CFL model and experiments were also being conducted for the same to validate the models developed.

 Abstract

Technological innovation lays down several changes which can affect the functioning of the human resource and make it simpler and faster than earlier. Human resource management has always played a very important role in improving and enhancing the performance of organization. HR is the most valuable assets of an organization which never depreciate. Build people to build the organization to build business is an accepted truth. The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) facilitates the innovative ways of carrying on HR work. e-HRM may be most powerful driving force for achieving organizational effectiveness. e-HRM has made few buzzword like automation, transparency, empowerment, paperless office with least human interference, a reality which was once supposed the panacea for all the ills of workplace. With the adoption of e-HRM, organization might be capable of performing their HR activities effectively. With increasing competition and the banks giving importance to cost cutting which has posed challenge on minimizing expenditure not compromising on productivity. The banks adopt several IT tools for performing their HR functions such as e-recruitment, e-selection, e-training, e-compensation, etc. e-HRM provides the information required to manage HR process. The e-HRM provides the portal that enables employees, managers, HR professionals to view extract or alter information which is necessary for managing the HR of the organization and for making decisions quickly. An endeavour through this paper is been taken to reflect the role of e-HRM in performing the HR activities in private sector banks in Tiruchirappalli City.

 Abstract

This study aims focus on awareness and preferences of working women. Women in India are now actively participating in all activities such as education, politics, media, science and technology& becoming financial independent. With a changing scenario, women has started actively participating in investing their surplus money, though it all depends upon the various parameters such as degree of their risk taking capability, influence of family members and friends and the dare to get exposed to modern and innovative investment avenues. This study focuses on different avenues of investments as well as the factors while selecting the investment with the sample size of 70 respondents by conducting the survey through questionnaire in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. The study is based on personal interviews with salaried women employees using a structured questionnaire. The data has been analyzed using percentage analysis and chi-square test. The researcher has analyzed that salaried women employees consider the safety as well as high return on investment on regular basis.

 Abstract

The word hermeneutics explicitly emerges in the 17th century. In its initial phase, hermeneutics was deemed and defined to be the science or art of interpretation. However, by the end of the nineteenth century, hermeneutics was deemed to be a theory committed to laying out the rules governing the science of interpretation. The basic function of hermeneutics was to give methodological directions to interpretative sciences. The present paper will bring out the origin of Hermeneutics and will highlight the different meaning of the word thought out different historical context.

 Abstract

The use of smartphones to facilitate teaching and learning is very essential in this information era. It is for this reason that Foso College of Education, Assin Foso permits its pre-service teachers to own and use smartphones to support their learning. This study was on the ownership and use of smartphones among first year pre-service teachers of Foso College of Education. The purpose of this study was to find out whether pre-service teachers own smartphone, and for those who do, what they are primarily used for. In this case study, 210 first year pre-service teachers were randomly selected and asked to complete a questionnaire. The study showed that, majority of the first year pre-service teachers own smartphones and memory cards can be plugged into their smartphones. Again the results showed that, more females own smartphones than the males. While the most popular use of smartphone was for making calls, the least popular use of smartphone was for creating and editing of documents among first year pre-service teachers. From the findings of this study, it is recommended that, there should be policy by the college in collaboration with the government to assist pre-service teachers to own smartphones and encourage pre-service teachers to primarily use smartphones to support their studies.

 Abstract

CNC router is used to make a cavity on wooden and it is widely used in industry. Other processes for producing holes are punching and various advanced machining processes. The cost of holes and cavity making is one of the highest machining costs. There are several types of wooden cutting which is different tool or cutter. The three mechanical subsystems will consist of the framing system, the guide system, and the mechanical drive system. The guide and mechanical drive systems have several choices of material and structure type, and each of these choices will be evaluated based on cost and precision. The drive subsystem will be analyzed for efficiency and cost tradeoffs. The electrical subsystem consists of the communications and the motor drive electronics subsystems. The software subsystem will be evaluated and selected based upon the number and types of drawing files with which it can be used, without requiring intermediate programs to translate the files. The cost of structure is estimated, which is a significant saving over current machines currently available on the market with the proposed features.

This paper outlines the various available literature on skill, the importance of skilled employees/workforce for organizational efficiency, about infrastructure sector and effect of skill in infrastructure companies to develop a sustainable advantage. Furthermore, the author also reviewed shortage of skill in the infrastructure sector and effect of training and development and other related activities upgrading workforce on organizations performance. The researchers consider the rationale for skill sets and explain their role in the training system.
