Agriculture sector plays a very important role in the economy of the Haryana and predominantly it is an agriculture economy. The area under wheat and rice is continuously increasing in the state. The mono cropping of wheat and rice has led to serious problems such as exploitation of ground water, decline in the fertility of soil, due to excessive irrigation there is problem of water-logging and salinity; and the excessive use of subsidized fertilizers has degraded the food grains quality. So that there is a need to diversify the cropping pattern towards the alternative crops. The main objectives of this paper are to examine the status of vegetable production in the state and the problems faced by the farmers while growing vegetables. Both time series and cross-sectional data have been used in this research work. The study revealed that among majority of marginal size farmers transportation and unavailability of inputs were the important problems. Timely payment and crop risk were considered as important problems by small size farmers. Timely payment and marketing problems were reported as the important problems by majority of medium size farmers while crop risk and marketing problems were reported as the important problems by majority of large size farmers. Diversification from paddy to vegetable crops in the kharif season in Haryana requires a favorable price regime, technology for increasing the existing levels of productivity, financial support and infrastructure facilities.

The first statutory regulatory body that the government of India set up post the reforms of 1991 was the Securities and Exchanges Board of India (SEBI). As a regulator for the securities markets, SEBI was given the powers to create subordinate legislation and to investigate wrong-doing and impose relevant penalties. In the post-reform period of the last two decades, one of the more important innovations facilitating a more rapid pace of economic development has been the creation of regulators. These are statutory entities that were placed outside of the machinery of the government, but given powers to regulate and supervise a sector . One reason for the government to create such entities was to have expert bodies to regulate sectors where they faced an increasing complexity of economic activities. Here, the regulator would have domain knowledge to deal with such complex issues. A more powerful reason was the arms-length relationship that freed the regulatory entities from the political compulsions of the government. This was especially important in the development of those sectors where there was a dominance of public ownership among them in the sector. In India, there have been several regulators that have been set up, the more prominent of which have been SEBI (securities markets), TRAI (telecom) and CERC (energy) . Of these, SEBI has been seen to be one of the more effective in terms of delivering on a mandate that includes (a) protection of the investor, (b) prudential regulation of securities markets intermediaries and (c) development of the markets . The culture of Punjab in the early modern times was extremely diverse dependent upon an individual's caste, community, religion and village. An array of cultures can be found historically. The main cultures that arose in the Punjab during the Medieval Age at the beginning of this era was of strong Indo-Aryan dominance. The Brahmins and Khatris were once a singular group living in the Punjab who practiced Hinduism. They were descended from the Vedic people who were rigid to the Hindu practices in their livings. Their culture was based on their religious beliefs, which could be described as identical to that of Hindu living across Punjab province. The second strongest emergent cultural identity was Jat and Gujjar culture, based on pastoralism, agriculture and ancestor worship, in modern Punjab. Most of the Western region are descended from Gujjars, whereas the Eastern region is ethnically Jat. Over centuries, Islamic traditions were incorporated into the lives of Punjabi Muslims and Hindus also. These people would often live together marrying others like them and the customs practised centuries ago are still visible in the way all the castes and religious groups live. Despite all these strange mixtures there were huge difference between the living of common people and the upper class of rulers. In the society of Punjab there were rigid customs also existed like Sati, intoxication, Gambling etc. Harmonious activities were traced between Hindus and Muslims in all social activities and a lot of recreations were enjoyed by both of the communities.
