Violence against women stands as a true hindrance to the achievement of social and economic development of the country. In this study, an attempt is made to analyze reported crimes committed against women in Mizoram. This paper also attempts to examine the link between female literacy rate, female working population and Indian Penal Code (IPC) case registered on crime against women in Mizoram. In the course of the study, it is found that specific conclusion cannot be drawn on any specific aspect of cruelty against women in the country because most of such cases are never reported to the police or Judiciary or law enforcing authority. Even after rising levels of education, economic empowerment and several laws and mechanisms to prevent crime against women, a countless number of women continue to suffer in silence.

Abstract: The bottom core sediment samples of two perennial ponds were collected and to determine the heavy metal concentrations and pollution status of metals such as Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn, Al, Ni, Cd, Na, K, Ca and Mg. To assess the metal contamination in pond sediments, sediment quality guidelines of metals (WSR) were applied. The metal contamination in the study pond sediments were also evaluated by applying enrichment ratio (ER), contamination factor (CF), geo-accumulation index (Igeo) and pollution load index (PLI). Based on enrichment ratio (ER), the core sediment samples of Pond I (Manavalakurichy) and pond II (Thiruthuvapuram) indicating deficiency to minimal enrichment for Cu, Ni, Cd, Al, Cr, Zn and Mn. According to contamination factor (CF), K and Mg were responsible for moderate contamination; Na shows considerable contamination and the metals such as Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Zn, Al, Ni and Cd indicating low contamination in pond I and II. According to Igeo, pond I sediments were unpolluted to moderately polluted by Pb. Based on PLI all sampling stations in both study ponds suggest no overall pollution of site quality.

Segmentation is known as a process of partitioning an images space into some non overlapping meaningful homogeneous parts. This paper presents the comprehensive analysis of handwritten character Recognition of MODI script. The conversion of a handwritten character into the machine-readable format is nothing but a Handwritten Character Recognition Process. MODI document is available in many fields like Art, Commerce, Social Studies, Health Care, etc. The handwritten character of MODI script is cursive in nature, because of this reason the difficulties level is increase to identify the correct MODI handwritten characters. This research paper showcases the proposed methodology to analyze the handwritten MODI character from a digital image. This proposed methodology deals with the MODI character within the image and it will be used for MODI script transliteration. The latest research in Handwritten Character Recognition has used different types of method, classifiers, and features to reduce the complexity of recognizing handwritten text. In addition, this research paper analyses the different segmentation techniques of Image Processing, which is useful in character identification and mapping. The current paper is categorized into three sections. In First Section is the Introduction of MODI script, Steps of Second Section is the proposed methodology for MODI character Recognition. And in Third Section the Conclusion based on proposed methodology is mention.
