 Abstract

Investigation were conducted to establish the photocatalytic effect on the degraduation of six different herbicides anilofos, alachlor, butachlor, azimsulfuron, metsulfuron methyl and sulfosulfuron using TiO2 as catalyst. For this purpose three different classes of herbicides (organophosphorus, organochlorine and sulfonyl urea) were studied. The study was mainly conducted in aqueous solutions. The influence of amount of TiO2, temperature, anionic and cationic agents, pH, surfactants and radiant flux were studied. The data generated clearly showed that the addition of TiO2 in terms of different quantities, highly influenced the degradation rate. The increase in temperature significantly increased the dissipation rate in the presence of TiO2 catalyst up to 70’C. At different concentrations of the herbicides investigated, TiO2 quantity showed significant influence on the degradation rate. This was evident from the fact that 0.5 g/l of TiO2 showed optimum dissipation up to the level 20ug/ml. At higher concentration levels even though the dissipation was faster, the results showed the requirement of additional quantities of TiO2 as evidenced from the presence of residues.

 Abstract

Equal access of women to the social, economic and political domains have a profound impact on the development process of the country. To ensure women participation towards the development goals, the focus should be made on the safety and security of women in the society. If society would effectively eliminate violence against women, it would have to focus its attention towards educational and economic empowerment of women in the country. This paper gives an overview of the importance of economic empowerment of women to eliminate violence against women in the country. For the purpose of the study, the economic contribution of women in Kolasib District of Mizoram is studied, and an attempt is made to establish the relationship between economic empowerment and social status of women.

 Abstract

After the independence, the government of India felt the need of planning. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was very impressed with the idea concept of state planning when he saw that the erstwhile USSR survived the great depression of 1930s. Though Planning Commission does not find its place in the Constitution of India, it was enacted through a legislative resolution of 1950s, and the Prime Minister remained the Chairman of the Planning Commission till it was dissolved in 2014. Planning Commission was considered one of the most important agency of application of federal principles in practice. Rather one may say that planning commission was an instrument of exercising center's control over the states through resource mobilization.

 Abstract

The statuses of women in various ages have gone through changes. We find that from the beginning of civilization where society was patriarchal even then women had an important role in family and society. Almost half of the mankind is really a womankind. This half, in every age and every land, has coexisted with men in a relationship which has varied between complete submission and complete equality. But, in the current era women need an overall empowerment. Though women now-a-days are raising their voice for equal rights and life with dignity but still there is a huge gap. Women participation in decision making bodies is an issue of empowerment and equality and when especially we focus on tribal women, they have been subjected to worst forms of exploitation. They are forced to adhere certain norms which may even take away her freedom, rights and even her dignity. The present study "Age correlates to political participation among tribal women of Udaipur district of Rajasthan" is aimed to find out the level of political participation among tribal women of Udaipur district which is being inhibited by dominantly by the local tribal families. The paper is basically based on empirical study which will bring out significant sociological aspects of tribal society of Rajasthan.
