The present study Coonoor macro-watershed falls in the north-eastern part of Bhavani River Sub-Basin, Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu, India where severely affected by landslide during 1978 and 1979. Weight of Evidence Method (WofE) is a quantitative data-driven method used to combine datasets. It also uses to take the parameters associated with dependant variables. WofE model used to prepare the landslide susceptibility map. A pair of weights, i.e, W+ and W-, is calculated for each sub-variables of a layer, which are dependent on the spatial relationship between the landslides and evidences. This calculation is done by applying likelihood ratios, which describe the possibility of occurrence of landslides in the presence and absence of evidences. The final product of this analysis is a map showing relative proneness of the terrain landslides i.e., landslide susceptibility based on certain evidences. The LSM is categorises into five classes viz., very low, low, moderate, high and very high based on Natural Breaks method. The landslides are overlaid on the LSM prepared and the number of landslides falling in each landslide susceptibility class is determined. The landslide susceptibility map helps to people in practically and cost effective way to identify the areas where the landslides occurred in past or may occur in future.

Although sugarcane was being grown in India from the Vedic period and sugar was being produced from fourth century, there was no sugar industry in India. The modern sugar processing industry in India made its beginning in 1904 when the first vacuum pan process sugar plant was set up at Saran in Marhowrah in Bihar. The growth of the industry was slow till 1930 with only 30 sugar mills. To meet the domestic demand of sugar, India had to import sugar mainly from Java (Indonesia). In 1931, a Tariff Board was set up and the sugar industry was brought under protection. Since then sugar industry in India has experienced a long journey. Hence it would be useful to study the performance of sugar industry in India since evolution, particularly during two periods i.e. Pre Independence Period and Post Independence Period. Present paper aims to fulfil this need for study. To achieve the objectives of the study the paper made use of secondary data obtained from various reputed and reliable sources. Appropriate statistical tools like growth rates, coefficient of variation, averages, charts, graphs and tables have been applied wherever find necessary. Besides to test the significance of compound annual growth rate semi log regression model has been applied and results have been drawn with the help of p and t values. Paper suggests that it will be the efficiency and paying capacity of the sugar mills that will govern the sustainability of the sugar industry. Without improving the efficiency in operations whether it is sugarcane cultivation or sugar processing, the paying capacity of the sugar mills cannot be improved. Efficient utilization of by products, capacity utilization, modernization of machinery and diversification would be the key factors to improve the performance of this industry.

This paper deals with the modelling of simple and efficient water pumping system. It provides the study of its equivalent circuit. This system uses maximum power point tracking algorithm to maintain maximum power at output in any atmospheric condition. Each subsystem is modelled in order to get whole system that works efficiently. This simulation works on ideal data and real time data. The module voltage is given to boost converter that further connected to DC motor and pump. The final result validate that MPPT can significantly increase the conversation efficiency of the system.

Adaptive modulation is a technique in which power and number of bits per subcarrier are allocated to the amplitude response of the frequency selective fading channels for better performance involving high data rate transmission. The performance of adaptive OFDM techniques with discrete rate M-ary quadrature modulation (M-QAM) in frequency selective fading channels is analyzed in this paper. The adaptive modulation schemes are used here for constant power constraints and giving higher spectral efficiency for given target bit error rate(BER). The antenna selection and dynamic adaptive modulation can greatly improve the performance of adaptive modulator for SDR.

Energy, non-renewable resource has at-most global importance. Conserving this energy in computational grids especially in large data centers has been a hot topic of discussion since many years. A small amount of reduction in energy consumption in a single node would add up resulting in a significant amount energy savings in the data centers. In this paper the energy model is derived based on various parameters that are obtained using PAPI and Perf, a Linux profiler. The work also concentrate on scaling Central Processing Unit frequency and obtain results for various workload. Molecular dynamics a systolic approach is the program that is used. The program is run at different workloads and at different CPU frequencies. Based on that, energy equation is derived and graphical representation of the results are shown for different frequency ranges and workloads. The result can be utilized to identify the CPU frequency for running the applications which can provide better performance in acceptable amount of time with reduced energy consumption.

In coastal environment reinforcement corrosion is an obvious cause of deterioration of concrete structures which affects the durability and service of reinforced concrete beams. Flexural strength is a measure of the tensile strength of concrete, in other words it is a measure of a resistance against failure in bending. The main aim of our study is to investigate and compare the flexural strength and theoretically estimate steel loss of conventional reinforced concrete beams. Accelerated corrosion technique using 5%Nacl and impressed current were adopted to corrode the beam experimentally. Beam specimens are prepared using M25 grade concrete for Portland Pozzolana Cement ( PPC). Beam specimens casted are tested as vertical beam in normal loading setup and load deflection behavior is studied. In general the corroded beam has lesser load carrying capacity and higher deflection then conventional beams.

There is growing need for integrating environmentally sound choices into supply chain management research and practices. the green supply chain management it is also called as sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) is a sort of modern management mode which could comprehensively consider the environmental influence and resource utilization efficiency in the whole supply chain and how to implement the green supply chain management in industrial operations. the role of the green factors are involved in industries supply chain activities from the procurement of the raw material to the transportation of the final products. Green supply chain management has emerged as a key approach for enterprises seeking to become environmentally sustainable.

In Power Electronics Application, the uncontrolled rectifiers are commonly used for AC-DC conversion which is located in the front end of industrial applications. The non-linear load naturally generates harmonic currents which cause major problem and affects the power quality at mains. Thus the high harmonic content of the power lines is resulting low power factor and voltage distortion. In addition several applications demand the capability of power regeneration to the power supply. These problems are alleviating by using Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) rectifiers which means the reduced THD can be achieved and power regeneration is possible. The converter switches are replaced by Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) at its front end instead of diodes which is named as Active Front End (AFE) rectifier. The Active Front End converter is swelling solution for harmonic content elimination at the input line. This paper presents the field of Active Front End rectifier with reduced input current harmonics and it improves power factor, which increases the system stability and performance. The analysis and implementation of software is accomplished by MATLAB/SIMULINK and its hardware is developed in hardware as prototype model.
