The question “Is Gandhi relevant today?” can be asked only by those whose souls are enslaved by the thralldom of the world. What breath is to life, Gandhi is to humanity and civilization. In the words of Mary E King,” Gandhi was..... Against racism, against colonialism, against the caste system, for popular democratic participation, against economic exploitation, against the degradation of women, against religious and ethnicsupremacy, As long as there is strife, hostilities, ethinic cleansing, religious unrest, internal conflicts and threats of military occupation, people will turn to Gandhi. His usefulness will not end unless conflict ceases.”

We are proud to be the largest democracy in the world. For more than sixty eighty years we have witnessed the conduct of successful elections, peacefulchanges of government at the Centre and in the States, people exercisingfreedom of expression, movement and religion. At the same time we, quite often, listen complains about prevalent inequalities, injustice or non-fulfillment ofexpectations of certain sections of the society. These people do not feelthemselves participative in the parliamentary democratic process. In India we keep on debating these various aspects of parliamentary democracyand its achievements and challenges. For a better understanding of the same,we discuss this in this paper.

“The present paper aims at reviewing the various developments in Corporate Governance in India. The emergence of new technologies in the era of globalisation and liberalisation entirely changedthe nature of business transactions. By the evolution of business life cycles business transactions became very complex and managing risk became a challenging task for the organisations. Concerns about corporate governance in India were, however, largely triggered by Harshad Mehta stock market scam of 1992 followed by incidents of companies allotting preferential shares to their promoters at deeply discounted prices and the recent scam of sathyam. Good corporate governance became a key word to handle accounting scandals and to mitigate growingconcern about the quality of financial statements. In short Corporate Governance is about promoting corporate fairness, transparency and accountability.”

“This article highlights the status of women in different General Elections. It focuses on the under representation of women in Indian Politics. It is grounded along the election commission’s report on electoral participation and representation of women from 1957 to the recently held general elections in 2014. It offers a detailed image of women’s political participation and representation from being women electorate to voters, from women as candidates to women as representatives in Lok Sabha. It indicates, due to various political and non-political reasons women go on to face democratic deficit in government. The substantial representation of women is missing in proportion to their population. Despite an increase in voting percentage in the recently held assembly and general elections still women represent less as candidates and fewer as women legislators”

Globalization has today become a major sort of debate among academicians, policy makers and NGOs. Its impact is profound. Despite the continuing emphasis on promoting global prosperity and achieving a more “just world,” negative aspects of globalization remain rife in our globe. Poverties, inequalities, injustices, starvations, backwards and marginalization’s are all serious problems many societies are still experiencing. The purpose of this paper is to examine the positive and negative aspects of globalization and realize how one could successfully deal with the challenge it poses. The study shows that though globalization is a process by which capital, goods, services and labor cross national borders, and acquire a transnational character, it is often accompanied by the flow of related lifestyles, tastes, ideas, and even values across boundaries which help reshape local political institutions, cultural patterns and social relations. It also creates new opportunities for many peoples to increase their wealth and enhance their prosperities.
